My name is Sandy Metcalf.

While I have been creating something or the other since I was a kid I started my company Pick of the Litter in the 90’s to fund my own Labrador kennel and Labrador Rescue and I have sent my soft sculpture as far away as Australia. I always told people being a breeder is the hard part no money in breeding if you do it right.

It is better to sell to the breeders and dog people that is where the money is and we did quite well.

We started with our regular Pick pup a soft sculpture that was 6" long that was in the three shades of black chocolate and yellow of Labradors but we also had a buff colored yellow Lab as well and each one was vanilla scented and filled with barley.

Below are just a few items that I make in what I call soft sculpture

We later went to special orders and then up to life-size and weight of any breed anyone wanted. And I had fun with that for 10 years and will still make special orders if asked or to donate to a club or Rescue fundraiser.

So since I started with Pick of the Litter we will start with a bit of that time as well

Just a few of the regular and special order out of the 1000's of the 6" we made

Then came the full size normal weight in barley Labs and other dogs

Tildy a 60 pound buff yellow in a medium real dog basket

Then we did a full size and weight Irish Setter Jessie an aging girl is in a Large dog bed and she weighs 70 pounds

You can see actual size with me in the picture

The next one is a 9 week old Newfee puppy I did in 35 pounds of barley

Again you can see size and how real they look with me in the picture

And here are a few soft sculpture I made of non pick pups

I made the kitty I made the cat bed.

I could not find eyes to give me the look I wanted so I combined buttons to get the eye I was looking for

This next one was a dare a challange to my "I can make anything" the cat is not by me but the kitten is again I used combining buttons as eyes to mimic the cat

Mr. Cat and Mr. Kitten ......

I can make ANYTHING :)

Yes I made EVERYTHING except the shoes and socks I designed and made the M I made the mouth, I made the eyes again can't beat buttons and it turned out great!

As with everything we do a portion of profits goes to support Labrador Rescue
