When we were kids our dogs used to climb up our pool slide and slide down or when we went to the river they would run to the top of the rocks and jump in.
The first time at the river it was an accident the kids had been doing it and one of the pups got too close in their excitement and fell off the wet rocks! Scared us to death it was a long drop but he popped up got out of the water shook off ran back up the rocks and jumped! Well that was good enough for all the other dogs from then on they did it every time.
Our pool slide they just started following us up the ladder and we would pull them to us to slide down then some began doing on their own by getting too close to the edge watching us take another pup down and then slipping off but once the lead dog did it on her own- they all did it.
As everyone knows Labs love water!
"I could easily fill a book on the antics of my four legged kids over the years, For instance my dogs were so smart they could open doors if you did not lock the door. I mean turn the handles.
So you either had a horde of unruly four legged kids bounce into the bathtub with you or accost you in the shower if you went in did not lock and they heard water.
One time long before I learned how to and developed Alpha training, I had a lot of them home at once instead of off showing, plus we had two half grown pups we had acquired from another breeder to add to our own bloodlines and two of my own I was running on to see if they would be show prospects. If you are counting that is 12 dogs at home and the lead bitch opened the door to the bathroom.
I was tired I was covered in worming medicine from treating the little pups and I wanted a shower. I forgot to lock the door.
Not only did I learn how many UNWANTED Labs can fit into a shower I learned how many it takes before the curtain rod is pulled from the wall and then the fun of trying to remove wet dogs from the shower and yourself as a bunch ran off with the curtain with the rod still attached! Hitting everything in its range as they fled!
I was adorable half covered in shampoo and dog hair mostly blinded from the suds in my eyes- stark naked and running out the back deck down the stairs to the backyard screaming my head off to no avail- trying to grab a shower curtain that they destroyed my expensive shams before I could get them!!!!
I stood in the middle of our property (no one could see inside our fenced yard plus it was huge so no one was close. But as I stood there winded covered in black and yellow wet dog hair- muddy from the dirt I and they had kicked up as I ran mingling onto the wet soapy mess on me and MAD a HELL!! With a designer shower curtain and sham, or what was left of it in my hands, bare naked!
I hear a voice behind me say mom (they were at school I thought I must have lost track of the time) is that your' secret? Play out in the mud with the dogs in your birthday suit and clean up is a breeze? I could not stop laughing!
I was covered in everything but cloths, I had this big ol sham and curtain blocking me, you could still see I had nothing on behind it, but I was shielded I did not lose too much modesty just all my dignity as I had to let the pole slide to the ground gather the ripped dirty mess (no dirtier than I though) and wrap it up further around me to exit the situation, with absolutely no grace, but still laughing as was my son!
All the while trying to avoid dogs who, thought my presence was great fun and solely for their entrainment! Just to get back across the yard over the deck dragging mud and dirt into the house a trail of Labs and debris and torn curtain behind all the way to the bathroom. Where I stopped turned and faced down both laughing child and hopeful Labs! With a GO AWAY! Closed the door LOCKED it tight and without a curtain turned on the water, and finally got my shower.
I only looked raving mad that day I was not hehehe! And many a show friend when we have traded our stories over the years and I have dozens love that one and always say what I would give for that pix hehehe!
