Experience, in Oregon:
I am a retired show breeder with dogs across the state, county and world.
My dogs are from police work to Master Hunters from Champions to Therapy and
Search and Rescue dogs. All my companion puppies were placed on Limited
Registration and Spay/Neuter contracts. I take my job as the overseer of my
breed very seriously and education is first and foremost my tool in teaching
the pet public in making responsible decisions. I also still train I still
write books and I still rescue anything from baby skunks to???? And I still
find loving homes. I am an animal behaviorist and do grief counseling. I own
and run a Lab email list and have for over 11 years. I started to help people
with their pets
I teach Alpha control, and how to have a dog you can live with and much
more. Not many breeds I have not had my hands on.
The love of animals started when I was little and everything followed me home
or wound up at my door from thrown away puppies I nursed through Distemper to
starving unweaned kittens dropped off in bags to naked hatchlings I hand reared
taught to fly and set free. And no matter where I moved my door step they find
me.
After high school and working with our family vet (I rose in the animal world
at the same time I was working for our family business- I do many balls in the
air well) I went first into showing and working at show kennels then grooming
school followed by handling running grooming and pet shops- then by opening my
own kennel after I married. I retired my kennel when my 21 year marriage ended
in 2001 and have just two Labs now.
I was a hands on breeder with my vets from AIs (artificial Inseminations) to C
sections from surgery to OFAs (joint certifying) and x-rays to assisting in
wound stitching and general Care. I loved it all and though I am retired. And
people still come to me daily for what products to purchase and recommendations
on care training and food. As well as behavior problems, boarding, grief
counseling and rescue needs.
